This year NCBI is launching the third cohort of the project with funding from the Joyce and Irving Goldman Family Foundation. The project trains Jewish students, faculty, and staff to take on antisemitism while building bridges with diverse groups on campus: Black Lives Matter, Muslim, Palestinian, and LGBTQ+ organizations etc.

After a successful three years of the project and an excellent track record, NCBI, with support from the Goldman Family Foundation, is seeking additional funding partners to help us grow the project from 3-5 campuses a year to 30 campuses each year. We are looking for a consultant with a good track record of writing successful grant proposals who can join with NCBI as we seek funding to bring this project to more and more campuses. We hope to have hired someone by October 1, 2023. In order to become totally familiar with the goals and strategies of the project, we hope the consultant will be able to attend most of the three-day training on coalition building work on antisemitism on campus for Cohort 3. The training will take place on Zoom on October 16-18, 2023.

ABOUT NCBI

The National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) (www.ncbi.org) has been working with organizations, campuses, and communities since 1984. NCBI grew out of a two-year project in the early 1980s, when the American Jewish Committee hired Cherie Brown to lead bridge-building sessions between Black and Jewish college students on five East Coast campuses in the United States. The success of these bridge-building workshops led to a recognition of the need for a new leadership training organization, one that could train leaders from all disciplines and identities in bridge-building, intergroup conflict-resolution skills. Since its founding in 1984, NCBI has become one of the leading international organizations promoting coalition building, intergroup conflict resolution, and teaching people how to have difficult conversations. NCBI has trained thousands of students, faculty, and staff on hundreds of campuses to institutionalize coalition-building programs and practices. NCBI has had a strong commitment in all its programs to take on antisemitism alongside all other oppressions.
